Who are we?
OTDAZ is a membership-based organization dedicated to supporting online taxi drivers in Zambia. We advocate for fair regulations, improved working conditions, and a stronger voice within the industry. We collaborate with other stakeholders to support drivers, enhance transport services and promote innovation. Together, we can create a safer and more efficient ecosystem.
How we came to exist
The narrative and driving forces behind the formation of OTDAZ are as follows:
Driver's Challenges
Drivers operating under taxi app companies face multiple challenges. These companies often engaged in practices that did not ensure fair competition, which impacted both drivers and riders.
Need for Unity
Recognizing the need for a unified voice, drivers came together to form OTDAZ. Their goal was to unite and advocate for their collective interests, ensuring they had a platform to address their concerns effectively.
Establishment
With these objectives in mind, OTDAZ was established to represent and support online taxi drivers across Zambia, aiming to improve working conditions and advocate for fair practices within the industry.
Certification
OTDAZ was officially certified under the Societies Act of Zambia by the Registrar of Societies, following recommendations from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics in September 2022.
